Anubis
Pantheon:  Egyptian
Domain: Mummification, embalming, “opening of the mouth ceremony”
Similar gods: Osiris
Symbols: ankh, tools of mummification, collar or ceremonial tie, jackal or some other desert canine.
Depiction: Often depicted in a very active or alert stance, versus the normally passive stances of authority in Egyptian art. Can usually be seen either in the process of mummification or near Osiris or some other likeness of that god (the lunar disc).   Anubis is either depicted in anthropomorphic form (half-animal, half-human) or full-animal form.
